Job Title: Multimodality Technologist Profession: Multimodality Tech Specialty: Multimodality Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hrs AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in X-ray and CT License: Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) Certifications: BLS (AHA Only), ARRT (R), ARRT (CT) Must-Have: Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in two imaging modalities and works routinely in both modalities. Description: The Multimodality Technologist, under general supervision, performs imaging procedures in two or more disciplines, such as X-ray, CT, MRI, or Nuclear Medicine. These procedures are carried out on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider. The technologist is responsible for ensuring high-quality multimodality procedures according to established protocols. They maintain production efficiency and quality of imaging procedures. The technologist demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose monitoring and the actions to take if doses exceed set levels. They communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding the procedures being performed. The role involves preparing the patient and area for imaging, including proper positioning and use of immobilization devices. Safety requirements, infection control, and drug and radiation policies must be adhered to at all times. The technologist uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains cleanliness in work areas and equipment. Collaboration with engineers and physicists is necessary to ensure optimal equipment function. They are responsible for verifying and maintaining all relevant documentation, including patient history and procedural guidelines. Maintaining medical imaging records in compliance with department policies is a crucial part of the role. Competency in performing essential duties and commitment to customer service is required. Continued education and skill maintenance for appropriate patient care are essential. The ability to train new team members and take on call duties is expected when required.
