Applies principles of radiation protection. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures. Performs diagnostic radiographic services. Operates imaging equipment. Operates other equipment/devices as appropriate. Positions patients. Immobilizes patients as necessary. Calculates exposure factors. Practices radiation protection. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality. Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures. Practices aseptic technique as necessary. Assists physician with administration of contrast media and is familiar with possible reactions and appropriate responses to such reactions. Recognizes signs and symptoms of an emergency and determines course of action. Initiates life support measures for patients, if necessary. Assumes responsibility to assure exams and procedures. Maintains IV skills if working weekdays. Contributes to patient records. Assumes responsibility for assigned area. Provides input for equipment and supply purchase decisions. The role requires professional judgment in procedural performance. Immediate action is required in recognizing patient conditions, including initiating life support measures. Diagnostic radiographic services are performed as necessary. Operating imaging and other associated equipment is essential. Positioning and immobilizing patients correctly is part of the duties. Calculating exposure factors accurately is required. Maintaining patient care involves addressing both physical and psychological needs during examinations. Practicing aseptic techniques is necessary when applicable. Assisting physicians with the administration of contrast media is a key function. Recognizing emergency signs and determining appropriate courses of action is expected. The role includes maintaining IV skills for weekday work. Contributing to patient records is also part of the responsibilities. The individual must assume responsibility for their assigned area. Providing input on equipment and supply purchases is encouraged. Educating in didactic and clinical settings may be required. Acting supervisory responsibilities may be necessary in the absence of a supervisor. Contributing to a quality assurance program plays a part in the role.
