Description:
Following established protocol and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, CT technologists will produce computerized tomography scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered by the physician.
Technologists will assist the radiologists on procedures as needed.
They will be responsible for the supervision of student Radiologic Technologists assigned to them.
Encouraging and maintaining good customer relations is essential.
Responsibilities include:
Responsible for the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures utilizing age-appropriate care.
Following established protocols and under the direction of Radiologists, the clinical staff will perform procedures for the direct results of interpretations.
Obtaining the correct written order for procedures is necessary.
Efficient use of time to accomplish patient care assignments while meeting work quality and quantity expectations is important.
Assist in the clinical education of student technologists.
Effective utilization of imaging equipment with attention to minimizing repeat examinations is required.
Using supplies with an emphasis on cost containment is essential.
Instructing and preparing patients regarding imaging procedures is a key responsibility.
Assisting in obtaining informed consent as needed is also necessary.
Ensuring patients understand the procedure is vital.
Communicating with family members regarding discharge instructions is part of the role.
Actively responding to the needs of internal and external customers is expected.
Ensuring correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history are entered into the computer system is critical.
Communicating with Radiologists regarding procedures and presenting a positive and professional demeanor in both verbal and written situations is important.
Adhering to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures is required.
Practicing good radiation protection and following established guidelines is essential.
Maintaining compliance with annual mandatory in-services and current licensure requirements is necessary.
Holding medical and sensitive information in confidence is expected.
Promoting the mission and values of the healthcare organization is important.
Assisting other members of the Imaging Team and clerical staff to maintain records, reports, and files is part of the job.
Demonstrating flexibility and accountability in job duties is necessary.
Taking initiative toward improving departmental operations is encouraged.
Frequent standing and walking are required.
Lifting and moving patients is a common task.
Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs is necessary.
Use of finger and hand dexterity is often needed.
Constant reaching with hands and arms is required.
Frequent talking and hearing is part of the position.
Corrected hearing and vision to normal range is necessary.
Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue is possible.
There is a risk of exposure to infectious materials and communicable diseases.
Frequent exposure to radiation is expected.
Intermittent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals is possible.
Intermittent exposure to blood-borne pathogens is a consideration.
The work environment can be quiet to moderate in noise level.
There may be stress due to deadlines or irregular hours.
Taking call and working weekends or holidays may be required based on departmental needs.
