Sets up the equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for procedures.
Verifies proper clinician orders for procedures.
Obtains complete clinical histories and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media to ensure patient safety.
Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and appropriate markers.
Reviews CT images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
Responds to emergency situations and ensures proper maintenance of life support equipment.
Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
Observes patient condition and evaluates situations where physician intervention is necessary.
Verifies patient identity using two unique identifiers before performing procedures.
Ensures patient privacy and comfort.
Demonstrates competence in applying appropriate procedures and techniques based on patient age.
Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
Follows physicians' instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injections.
Utilizes critical thinking skills and engages in dialogue with patients and families.
Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
Understands and documents pre-procedural verification and Time Out processes.
Demonstrates pre- and post-procedural care.
Prepares patients for procedures.
Maintains competency with venipuncture.
Adjusts techniques to minimize patient exposure to ionizing radiation while maintaining image quality.
Reports malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel.
Cleans and maintains equipment according to infection control policies.
Explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients clearly to minimize anxiety.
Addresses patient questions and concerns satisfactorily.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
Provides preparatory instruction and explanations of procedures to patients.
Documents required information concisely and legibly.
Reads daily emails and follows through with assignments.
Completes all mandatory education without prompting.
Produces acceptable images based on feedback and quality audits.
Ensures equipment is fully operational before use.
Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion.
Completes all studies in the required systems.
Maintains the department in a clean and orderly condition.
Transports and positions patients and assists with getting them on and off procedure tables.
Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered.
Applies shielding and supportive devices as needed.
Lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed.
Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel as warranted to ensure quality services.
Keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities and any issues.
Maintains an individual productivity rate comparable to coworkers.
Operates all workstations associated with the department.
Maintains compliance with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory agencies.
Takes call when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
