Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 7PM-7AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: N/A License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible. Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Must be able to work independently. Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Performs related duties as required. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock, such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media, including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure to be performed. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the principles of radiation protection. May involve shielding of patients and selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose using other ALARA techniques. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the system. Completes all study indexing, including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the information system. Reviews and confirms as necessary clinical protocols before performing the study. Demonstrates team member standards of excellence, including open communication and responding in a timely manner. Displays a positive attitude, fosters innovation, and respects diversity. Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary, as well as within the information system to support all clinical and billing functions. May work in a hospital with a fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit. May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment. May be exposed to potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that may exceed 10 lbs.
