Job Title: Radiologic Technologist - Computed Tomography Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days, Afternoons, Midnights Hours per Shift: Varies Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Certifications: ARRT (CT), BLS Must-Have: - Strong customer service skills - Excellent communication skills - Ability to work effectively in a team - Flexibility and willingness to learn Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination. Obtains additional information about the patient’s medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media and monitors patients for possible reactions, providing immediate care if necessary. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Demonstrates principles of radiation protection during all imaging procedures. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high quality image delivery into PACS. Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS). Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies. Consistently demonstrates standards of excellence in teamwork, communication, and customer service. Performs all documentation in the medical record and the radiology information system as necessary. May work in various settings, potentially exposed to radiation and high-voltage equipment. May occasionally lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs. Must possess personal qualities such as flexibility, initiative, and a respect for diversity. Demonstrates customer service values consistently.
