Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 15 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6p-6a Weekend and every other weekend) Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - BLS - AHA - ARRT - CT Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Performs related duties as required. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination. Reviews clinical data and performs appropriate examinations. Obtains additional information about patients' medical history as necessary. Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structures, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media and utilizes power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures. Ensures that adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Demonstrates the principles of radiation protection. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery. Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols before performing studies. Demonstrates team member standards of excellence, including communication, teamwork, and respect. Performs all necessary documentation in the medical record and the radiology information system. May work in a fixed unit or an ambulatory mobile unit. May be exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs.
