Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience License: Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography Certifications: BLS - AHA, ARRT - Radiography (R), Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) or Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) with ABEM or ARRT Must-Have: - CT Tech - CNCT or ARRT (CT) or ABEM (CT) Description: To provide diagnostic Computed Tomography Services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the direction of the supervising radiologist. Services are provided in accordance with established operating procedures and clinical protocols. The goal is to deliver safe, prompt, efficient, and cost-effective CT services. Responsibilities include positioning patients correctly using proper immobilization techniques. Optimal scans are performed using correct technical factors and protocols based on patient diagnosis and relevant clinical information. It is essential to use technical factors in accordance with industry standards to minimize radiation exposure while obtaining diagnostic scans. Correct CT Department Technologist workflow must be followed, which includes selecting the appropriate scan room, identifying and documenting two forms of identification for each patient, acquiring patient history, verifying orders, scanning patients, sending images to PACS, and completing case documentation. Additionally, it involves addressing quality assurance issues, charging for contrast media and supplies, and ensuring that all images are sent to PACS with correct documentation. The role requires initiating IVs for contrast media administration per department policy while utilizing standard precautions. Patients must be prepared for exams through procedure explanations and answered questions to encourage engagement. Difficult complaints or sensitive issues should be referred to department management, and patient transport may be required. The position includes monitoring patient conditions throughout the CT procedure and explaining delays in testing to patients waiting past their scheduled time. Confidential patient history must be obtained and documented, ensuring procedure appropriateness and the safe administration of contrast media. Documentation of patient charge data is critical, including modifying and initiating charges as procedure adjustments are made per instructions from physicians. Any allergic reactions, IV extravasations, or unusual occurrences must be documented, along with initiating incident reports for relevant situations. Maintaining appropriate inventory levels of supplies and notifying personnel of supply needs is essential. Confidentiality of all patient and other information must be upheld. Punctuality is expected, with readiness to start work upon arrival. An understanding of technical adjustments to produce high-quality images is required, alongside demonstrated teamwork and cooperation within the department.
