Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-2 years of CT & Acute care experience preferred License: Licensure in state of practice as applicable Certifications: - ARRT (R) Required - BLS (AHA) Required - Clienttion Badge required Must-Have: - ARRT Certified in Radiography (R) - Certified Computed Tomography Technologist (R)(CT) preferred Description: The CT Technologist performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans. Maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job. Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems to ensure quality image production. Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares patients for exams. Performs exams per department protocol. Reviews and evaluates images for quality, clarity, and accuracy to ensure that all necessary anatomical structures are captured. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff. Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or examination quality. Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and family concerns. Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other care providers. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents. Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining necessary consents, and maintaining applicable quality control programs. Reports any equipment failures or problems. As ordered by the physician and under supervision, administers contrast media to patients per protocol. Provides education to patients regarding safety concerns inherent to contrast administration. Stays updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols. Participates in continuing education and professional development activities. Assists and instructs students and other technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment. Demonstrates understanding of sectional anatomy, anatomic terminology, and positioning competency. Demonstrates proficiency in operating CT equipment and a strong understanding of imaging techniques and protocols. Demonstrates knowledge of protocols relating to contrast administration, including injector operation. Demonstrates understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging, including viewing, transferring, and manipulating images. Recognizes emergent patient situations and responds appropriately. Functions independently and as part of a team. Interacts and communicates effectively with caregivers and patients. Prioritizes tasks effectively. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff. Preferred Skills & Experience: One to two years of CT experience. One to two years of experience in a healthcare setting.
