Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Allied Health Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 4x10's Hours per Shift: 9 PM - 7 AM Experience: 2 years of CT experience required License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Certifications: BLS required, ARRT (CT) required Must-Have: - Experience with GE and Phillips equipment - Workstation experience Description: Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patients for the examination. Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination. Obtains additional information about the patient medical history as necessary. Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. Analyzes anatomical structure of patients, sets up equipment, and performs CT scans. Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied. Administers intravenous contrast media including utilization of power injectors. Monitors patients for possible reactions as appropriate to the study and provides immediate care to patients if a reaction should occur. May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure to be performed. Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored. Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies. Performs imaging procedures by demonstrating principles of radiation protection. May involve shielding of patients, selection of appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose, using other ALARA techniques, etc. Resolves any image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS. Completes all study indexing including study begin, study end, and the completion of the study in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms as necessary clinical protocols before performing studies. Demonstrates consistent team member standards of excellence including communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, and respecting diversity. Performs all documentation in the medical record as necessary, as well as within the radiology information system to support all clinical and billing functions. May work in a fixed unit or in an ambulatory mobile unit. May be potentially exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized. May be exposed to high-voltage equipment. May be exposed to potentially contagious patients. Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients that exceed 10 lbs.
