Job Title: CT Tech Profession: CT Tech Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day - 3x12 Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: OBMI and ARRT registered CT technologist Certifications: BLS certification required, CRASE training preferred Must-Have: - Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program - Must be willing to float to do X-rays up to half of the time Description: Provides healthcare services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Performs computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Performs computed tomography to obtain diagnostic sectional images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Performs diagnostic radiography procedures. Corroborates patient's clinical history with the procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Prepares patients for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects and operates radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results. Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination. Determines radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patients and others. Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded. Verifies informed consent for and assists a licensed practitioner with interventional procedures. Practices aseptic techniques as necessary. Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures. Prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner in agreement with relevant state statutes and/or institutional policy. Initiates basic life support action when necessary. Assists a licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures. Agency nurses will be floated to other departments where they are qualified to perform patient care before core staff is floated. Operates Computed Tomographic equipment and accessories. Selects appropriate programs for the desired protocol. Understands methods and is capable of performing venipunctures. Evaluates images for technical quality and manipulates display parameters, assuring proper identification. Maintains archival storage of digitized data as appropriate. Maintains knowledge of and observes Universal precautions. Provides patient education. Completes Computed Tomography skills check by CT advanced user covering head, spine, chest, abdominal, and pelvis anatomy and safe contrast usage. Supports the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Participates in required education for applicable programs as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
