Job Title: CT Tech Profession: Tech Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 Months Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-2 years of CT & Acute care experience preferred License: ARRT (CT) Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: - ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job - Demonstrates understanding of sectional anatomy and anatomic terminology - Proficient in operating CT equipment with a strong understanding of CT imaging techniques and protocols - Knowledge of protocols relating to contrast administration Description: The CT Tech performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position uses ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans. Maintains competency in clinical and technical functions of the job. Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure production of quality images. Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. Performs exams per department protocol. Reviews and evaluates images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary anatomical structures are captured. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff. Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination. Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns. Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers following procedures. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents. Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity and coding, maintaining applicable quality control programs and reporting equipment failures. Administers contrast media to patients per physician orders and provides education regarding safety concerns. Stays updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols by participating in continuing education and professional development activities. Assists and instructs students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols and procedures. Recognizes emergent patient situations and responds appropriately. Ability to function independently and as part of a team. Communicates effectively with other caregivers and patients. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff.
