Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as needed. Patient and Room Preparation: This task includes a) entering patient data into Epic and other appropriate computer systems as necessary. b) Placing the patient on the procedure table in the correct position for the procedure to be performed. c) Obtain an appropriate scout film for the procedure. d) Appropriate positioning of monitors, foot switches, table controls, and lighting for the procedure to be performed. Direct involvement during procedure: This task involves a) assisting the Interventional radiologist with handling sterile equipment as needed. b) Constant attention to the progression of the procedure while in the control room, monitoring exposure factors, exposure time, etc. c) Involved with operating the injector when necessary. Maintain adherence to the imaging workflow in PACS. This includes tracking exams in PACS throughout all steps in the process. Also, verifying images in PACS to ensure the patient, exam type, labeling, and orientation are correct. Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff. Confirms vascular access and injects contrast according to protocol. Appropriate history and pre-procedural screening to assess the patient's risk factors for adverse events, contraindications to contrast media administration, and examination preparation. Determine signs and symptoms of and average adverse event, and monitor the patient for the development of such signs and symptoms immediate notification to the supervising physician of any reactions or medical events. Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program meets the requirements for certification by the ARRT licensed & Injection Certified by the State of New York.
