Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Evening; Monday-Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: N/A License: Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography Certifications: BLS, Registered in Radiography (R); one of the following: Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) or Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) Must-Have: - Patient positioning - Immobilization techniques - CT scanning - Clienttion safety - CT angiography Description: To provide diagnostic Computed Tomography Services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the direction of the supervising radiologist. Services are provided in accordance with established operating procedures and clinical protocols. Provide safe, prompt, efficient, and cost-effective CT Services. Position patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques. Perform optimal scans using correct technical factors, shielding, and protocols based on the patient's diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information. Use correct technical factors to ensure the lowest amount of radiation is used to get a diagnostic scan as per ACR guidelines. Perform CT angiography, 3D imaging, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPRs. Post-process computer data to enhance exams for radiologist interpretation using appropriate reconstruction software. Follow correct CT Department Technologist workflow. Select the correct scan room, identify and document two forms of identification on each patient, acquire history, and verify orders. Scan the patient, send images to PACS, scan all paperwork, and complete the case documentation. Document any QA issues and charge for contrast media and supplies used. Verify that all images, series, and data sheets have been sent to PACS and ensure the accuracy of the number of images. Address exams with images and archive images on the scanner. Operate support equipment for CT such as independent workstation, pressure injector, PACS, and EPIC systems. Initiate IV for administration of contrast media according to department policy using standard precautions. Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures and addressing any questions. Transport patients to and from departments when necessary. Assist in the transfer of patients on and off the CT table and monitor patient conditions during the procedure. Work with the radiologist to tailor protocols to meet patient exam requirements. Refer difficult complaints or sensitive issues to department management. Be accountable for documentation and charging for supplies used during exams or procedures. Document confidential patient history to ensure appropriateness of exams and contrast media. Modify and initiate charges as procedure modifications are made by the radiologist or ordering physician. Document any allergic reactions, adverse effects, or unusual occurrences. Initiate incident reports regarding staff or patient situations. Maintain license and continuing education. Inject contrast media after proper patient screening and ensure the correct exam is being administered. Consult with providers as needed.
