Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Computed Tomography Duration: Full-Time Shift: Night Evening; Monday-Friday Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography Certifications: BLS, Registered in Radiography (R) Must-Have: Patient Positioning, Immobilization Techniques, CT Scanning, Clienttion Safety, CT Angiography Description: To provide diagnostic Computed Tomography services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the direction of the supervising radiologist. This is done in accordance with established operating procedures and clinical protocols. The goal is to provide safe, prompt, efficient, and cost-effective CT services. Positions patients correctly, using proper immobilization techniques. Performs optimal scans using correct technical factors, shielding, and protocols based on the patient's diagnosis, history, and other relevant clinical information. Uses correct technical factors in accordance with the American College of Radiology to minimize radiation exposure while achieving a diagnostic scan. Performs CT angiography, 3D, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPR's. Post-processes computer data to enhance exams for radiologist interpretation using appropriate reconstruction software. Follows correct CT Department Technologist workflow, including selecting the correct scan room and documenting two forms of identification for each patient. Acquires patient history, verifies orders, scans the patient, sends images to the PACS, scans all paperwork and data sheets, completes the case in the electronic health record, and addresses quality assurance issues. Is accountable for the documentation of and charging for supplies used during examinations. Documents confidential patient history to ensure the appropriateness of the exam and contrast media. Documents patient charge data and modifications as per the radiologist's or ordering physician's instructions. Records any allergic reactions, IV extravasations, or unusual occurrences. Initiates incident reports regarding staff or patient situations as needed. Maintains licensure and continuing education requirements. Initiates IVs for the administration of contrast media for CT following departmental policies and utilizing standard precautions. Prepares patients for exams by explaining the procedure and encouraging questions. Transports patients to and from departments as necessary and assists in the transfer of patients on and off the CT table. Continuously monitors patient condition during the CT procedure. Works collaboratively with the radiologist to tailor protocols to meet patient exam requirements. Refers difficult complaints or sensitive issues to department management.
