Job Title: CT Tech Profession: Tech Specialty: CT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1-2 years in CT and 1-2 years in a healthcare setting License: Licensure in state of practice as applicable Certifications: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), ARRT Certification Must-Have: - Demonstrates understanding of sectional anatomy, anatomic terminology, and positioning competency. - Demonstrates proficiency in operating CT equipment with a strong understanding of CT imaging techniques and protocols. - Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocols relating to contrast administration. - Recognizes emergent patient situations and can respond appropriately. - Ability to function independently and as part of a team. - Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other caregivers and patients. - Ability to prioritize tasks. - Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Description: The CT Tech performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans. Maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job. Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems to ensure the production of quality images. Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. Performs exams per department protocol. Reviews and evaluates images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary anatomical structures are captured. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment. Completes studies within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination. Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns. Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers following procedures. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents. Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding, and charging, obtaining necessary consents, and maintaining an applicable quality control program. Administers contrast media to patients as ordered and per protocol and provides education regarding safety concerns related to contrast administration. Stays updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols by participating in continuing education. Assists and instructs students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment.
