Job Title: Computed Tomography Technologist Profession: CT Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Thursday Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Client Registration in Diagnostic Radiography or a limited permit to practice in New York Certifications: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Current BLS for Healthcare Provider, CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification Must-Have: Graduation from an approved two-year AMA Radiologic Technology School, high school diploma Description: The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist performs technical procedures. Under the direction of the Medical Director, Section Head, Clinical Specialist, Manager, and Radiologist, the technologist assists in clinical evaluation and care of patients. This role requires working in a fast-paced environment. Technologists utilize their specific modality to create diagnostic images. They provide patients with a safe and positive experience. Technologists support teaching and continue learning as technology changes. In addition to trauma and emergency room scanning, they perform CT exams on outpatients and inpatients. This includes both stable patients and those receiving intensive care. Technologists also work with research patients and those requiring specialized CT-guided procedures. They practice and enforce radiation safety measures in accordance with state regulations.
