Job Title: CT Scan Technologist Profession: CT Scan Technologist Specialty: None Duration: 6 months Shift: 3 PM - 11:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: CAT Scan required License: NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License Certifications: - ARRT Certified R.T.(R) - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must-Have: - Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body - Understanding of mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware - Thorough knowledge of PACS system - Must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire date - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within three months of hire date Description: The CT Scan Technologist performs computed tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. Assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures. Performs complex CT procedures. Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient clinical history for procedures, ensuring information is documented and scanned. Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with the patient and/or family member. Identifies and/or administers contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed. Reviews patient prescriptions to verify appropriateness of exams and communicates with the Radiologist and Referring Physician as needed. Responsible for calling physicians to clarify prescriptions according to appropriate protocols. Verifies insurance authorization for exams and submits modification forms as required. Obtains outside studies and schedules them to ensure availability for comparison. Provides exam copies to patients and requesting physicians or family members. Evaluates radiographs using the PACS system to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value. Gathers relevant information from medical records and healthcare providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety. Determines patient preparation for procedures, including shielding and immobilization. Administers appropriate types and doses of contrast. Provides clear explanations and instructions to patients regarding procedures. Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to guidelines. Monitors patients’ physical conditions for adverse reactions during procedures. Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends. Adheres to policies regarding employee conduct, attendance, and punctuality. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs, and stand for a minimum of 6 hours per day. Identifies and modifies care based on patient needs including age, culture, language, and disabilities. Communicates effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers. Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
