Description:
The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques.
Produces sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation.
Assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Performs complex CT procedures using professional judgment.
Reviews and obtains patient clinical history for procedures.
Ensures information is documented and scanned into PACS.
Prepares, screens, and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire.
Identifies and administers contrast media related to CT exams.
Reviews patient prescriptions to verify the appropriateness of exams.
Communicates with the Radiologist and Referring Physician as needed.
Verifies insurance authorized exam scripts and sends modification forms to Finance.
Obtains outside studies then schedules them for availability in PACS.
Provides exam copies to patients and requesting physicians.
Evaluates radiographs using PACS System for proper identification.
Gathers relevant information from medical records and health care providers.
Determines whether the patient has been prepared for the procedure.
Preps patients for scanning including shielding and immobilization devices.
Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast to administer.
Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients.
Addresses and documents patient questions and concerns.
Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures.
Monitors the patient’s physical condition during procedures.
Responsible for scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends.
Maintains compliance with established guidelines and policies.
Identifies needs of the patient population served and modifies care accordingly.
Communicates effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers.
Adheres to standards of behavior and attendance policies.
Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs. and stands for a minimum of six hours a day.
Achieves ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months following hire date.
Maintains CEU Credits as required.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning is essential.
Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware is required.
Thorough knowledge of PACS systems is important.
Willingness to work in dual modalities (X-ray and CT) is necessary.
