Job Title: CT Scan Technologist Profession: CT Scan Technologist Specialty: - Duration: 10 Shift: 3:30 PM - 11:00 PM Hours per Shift: 7.5 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of CT experience on Siemens Equipment License: NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License Certifications: ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required; American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must-Have: ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire date Description: The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques. They produce sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. The technologist assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures. Essential Functions include: Performing complex CT procedures. Using professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient clinical history. Ensuring all information is documented and scanned into the system. Preparing, screening, and reviewing the contrast questionnaire for accuracy. Identifying and/or administering contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed. Reviewing patient prescriptions to verify exam appropriateness and communicating with the Radiologist. Clarifying prescriptions in accordance with the appropriate CT protocols. Verifying insurance authorization for exams and sending modification forms as necessary. Obtaining outside studies and scheduling them in the system for comparison. Providing exam copies to patients and requesting physicians. Evaluating radiographs using the system to ensure diagnostic value. Gathering relevant information from medical records and health care providers. Preparing protocols for scanning and patient safety based on patient needs. Determining patient preparation for procedures and preps. Determining appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered. Providing accurate explanations and instructions to patients in an understandable manner. Monitoring the patient's physical condition for any adverse reactions during procedures. Managing schedules that include holidays and weekends. Adhering to policies regarding employee conduct and attendance. Lifting a minimum of 25 lbs and standing for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifying patient needs and delivering care specific to those needs. Communicating effectively with patients, caregivers, and health care providers. Adhering to organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Must be willing to cover one weekend of on-call obligations if needed. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning is essential. Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware is necessary. Thorough knowledge of the PACS system is required. Maintaining CEU credits is essential for continued practice. Team members are expected to achieve relevant certification within required time frames.
