Location Highlights

Juneau offers waterfront living with direct access to both Mendenhall Glacier and Tongass National Forest. Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center sits about 13 miles from downtown, and Auke Bay provides whale-watching and fishing access along the Gastineau Channel. The Mount Roberts Tramway rises from the cruise port to alpine trails in minutes, and the Alaska State Museum downtown highlights regional Native culture and state history. Juneau is not connected to the road system, and travel within the city relies on local roads, ferry service, and Juneau International Airport, which supports access for clinicians seeking a coastal and outdoors-oriented setting.
