Nuclear Medicine TechnologistShift Details
5x8 shift structure
Monday – Friday
Varying shifts: 7:00am – 3:30pm or 9:30am – 6:30pm
No weekends, no call, no holidays
Position Overview
Reviews patient history and physician's orders
Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure patient understanding and cooperation
Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patient's age and ability to understand procedure (sight, hearing needs, ability to cooperate) to ensure image quality is successfully obtained
Reviews patient information and interpretation of data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age-related needs and provision of care
Performs nuclear medicine imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results
Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
Enters, transmits, and reports scan results
Orders, prepares, administers, stores, and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards
Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms
Required Certifications & Licensure
Certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), OR registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) and certified in Nuclear Medicine (NM) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
ARRT – CT certified
NNMTCB – CT certified
NYS License
BLS certification (American Heart Association)
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 2 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience
CT experience required
PET/CT experience required
NYS License
ARRT Certification with CE credits
BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of GE PET or Philips PET Scanners (not a requirement)
