Description:
Conducts complex procedures and tests using Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.
Works in collaboration with various teams to obtain necessary imaging for advanced diagnoses to aid in treatment options.
Assists the radiologist in performing high-risk invasive diagnostic techniques such as needle biopsies, aspirations, and CT-guided joint injections.
Demonstrates competence by contributing input for alternative approaches and adjusting scan parameters to limit radiation dosage.
Evaluates contra-indications, such as medications or insufficient patient preparation, and coordinates appropriate care prior to the patient’s arrival.
Works with providers to identify patient needs to complete exams or discuss alternative exams.
Performs various CT procedures as defined by procedure protocols.
Demonstrates ability to train team members on high-risk exams and procedures.
Recognizes diagnostic characteristics of normal and abnormal scans and alerts Radiologists for escalation or additional care.
Demonstrates ability to manipulate parameters for Cardiac exams and CT Gated procedures, ensuring proper use of equipment.
Analyzes scan data throughout examinations to ensure comprehensive exams are completed with sufficient data provided to physicians.
Triages care for general anesthesia exams and provides education for care teams regarding optimal parameters and equipment settings.
Obtains images per protocols and manipulates images according to protocols, performing multi-planar and 3D reconstruction of image data.
Administers oral and rectal contrast to patients as per protocols and ensures safe and proper contrast administration procedures.
Checks appropriate lab values before contrast injection per protocol.
