Description:
Conducts complex procedures and tests using Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.
Works in collaboration with various teams to obtain necessary imaging for advanced diagnoses to aid in treatment options.
Assists the radiologist in performing high-risk invasive diagnostic techniques such as needle biopsies and CT-guided procedures.
Demonstrates competence by contributing input for alternative approaches and adjusting scan parameters to limit radiation dosage.
Evaluates any contraindications, including medications, insufficient patient preparation, or the patient's inability to tolerate the procedure.
Notifies care teams and coordinates appropriate care prior to the patient's arrival, if possible.
Works with providers to identify patient needs to complete exams or discuss alternative exams.
Performs specific procedures as defined by the protocol and/or physician.
Trains CT Tech I team members on high-risk exams and procedures.
Recognizes diagnostic characteristics of normal and abnormal scans, alerting the radiologist for additional care as needed.
Manipulates parameters for cardiac exams and monitors devices, ensuring competent operation of equipment and computer parameters.
Analyzes scan data throughout the examination to ensure a comprehensive exam is completed.
Triages care for anesthesia exams and provides education for care teams on optimal parameters and contrast administration.
Obtains images per protocols and manipulates images according to protocols for appropriate reconstruction of image data.
Administers oral and rectal contrast, establishes intravenous lines, and ensures safe and proper injection procedures.
Checks appropriate lab values before contrast injection according to protocol.
Maintains current competency in Basic Life Support.
