Description

American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist for a 12-week night shift contract at a Level III trauma acute care hospital in Texas, requiring 2+ years of CT experience and ARRT (CT) certification.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting within a Radiology/CT department
  • Department has 3 GE scanners: one 16-slice (dedicated to ER) and two 64-slice (Main)
  • Average of 16–24 CT scans per day
  • Patient population includes ER and inpatient cases
  • Studies include CTs with and without contrast; IV starts are required
  • EMR is MEDITECH; PACS system is Fuji
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, on a 7-on/7-off schedule
  • Every-other-weekend rotation required
  • Occasional holiday coverage on a rotating basis with permanent staff
  • Call rotation is every 6th week as backup coverage; someone is always in-house
  • Call response time is 30 minutes
  • Call schedule varies based on rotation: if off-week falls Mon–Wed, call is 5 PM–6 AM; if off-week falls Thu–Sun, call covers Thu 5 PM–6 AM, Fri 5 PM–7 AM, Sat 7 AM–7 AM, and Sun 7 AM–6 AM
  • First to float between two campuses approximately 16 minutes apart, as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of CT Technologist experience, including ER and inpatient settings
  • Active ARRT (CT) certification required; pending certifications not accepted
  • Active Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license required; license required if applicable
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Experience starting IVs required
  • A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

  • Level III trauma acute care facility
  • Radiologist is in-house during the day; coverage is virtual at night, with ER physician available for emergencies
  • Rad dosimetry badge is provided by the unit
  • Department-specific orientation is provided (12 hours)
  • Travelers may be asked to precept staff as needed
  • Reliability is critical; call-outs are strongly discouraged
  • Black scrubs are required and are not provided
  • Candidates who have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
