Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring CRRT training and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) in an acute care hospital setting at a busy, large Level 1 Trauma center
  • 8A unit has 12 beds and 8B has 13 beds, both high acuity
  • Patient ratios typically 1:2, occasionally 1:1
  • Common diagnoses include heart and lung transplants, LVAD patients (C8A), and ACB/valve surgeries (C8B)
  • Devices used include LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP
  • RNs required to titrate drips, including all vasoactive cardiac drips
  • Hardwire monitoring used; RNs read strips
  • Charge RN typically carries a patient assignment
  • 1 PCA on the floor
  • Intensivist model with RT assigned to the unit 24/7 for ventilator and respiratory equipment management
  • EPIC EMR required
  • 12-hour day shifts, scheduled based on unit needs
  • 6 weekend shifts required within the 6-week assignment
  • Holiday coverage required for any holidays the RN is willing to work
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Floating required, with assignment based on competency
  • Unit/department orientation includes 2-3 shifts with preceptors
  • Teal scrubs required

Requirements

  • Active TX or Compact RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (pending certifications not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 3+ years and prior travel experience strongly preferred
  • CRRT trained required
  • Experienced ICU RN background required
  • Prior experience in a busy, high-acuity hospital setting preferred
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients, including heart/lung transplant, LVAD, ACB, and valve surgery cases
  • Manage and titrate vasoactive drips and operate specialized cardiac devices such as LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP
  • Work closely with an intensivist model and unit-assigned respiratory therapists
  • RNs should be flexible with scheduling and open to floating based on competency
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they meet experience requirements
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
