Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry unit position requiring an AZ or compact RN license and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Level 1 Trauma acute care hospital setting on a 32-bed CV Telemetry unit
• Patient population includes post cath lab, post vascular procedure, and day 2 CABG patients, with general telemetry and titration of Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Dobutamine (titrate down only)
• Patients are 15 years and older; no pediatric patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 with PCT support of 1 per 16 patients
• Charge Nurse and Clinical Supervisor available without patient assignments
• Centralized telemetry monitoring requiring EKG interpretation skills
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7am, with every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First to float to similar or lower acuity units
• 2 days of floor-specific orientation provided
• No IV team; RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• Hospitalist rounds during the day and is on call at night

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 full years of RN experience required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)
• Must pass a Pass/Fail sterile technique exam on day 1 of orientation, with emphasis on sterile field for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Must be able to interpret EKGs
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to cardiac telemetry patients including post-procedural monitoring and medication titration
• Navy scrub color required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Failure of second attempt on dysrhythmia or sterile technique testing results in ineligibility for 6 months with this health system
• Candidates who were directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by this health system within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
