CVICU Registered Nurse – Travel Contract in New Brunswick, NJ
Experienced CVICU Registered Nurse needed for a 13-week travel nursing opportunity in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Join a fast-paced Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit caring for adult and geriatric patients recovering from complex cardiac and thoracic procedures in a high-acuity academic healthcare setting.

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,470 - $2,600
- Charting System: EPIC experience required
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Must float within skillset to other ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units
- Orientation: Facility orientation provided prior to start

Job Requirements
- Active New Jersey RN license or compact RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU nursing experience required
- SICU experience may be considered if initial CVICU training was completed
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- EPIC charting experience preferred and required for this role
- Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
- Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax strongly preferred
- Ability to work nights, every other weekend, and designated holidays based on unit needs
- Open to first-time travelers and local New Jersey candidates
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-acuity care to cardiovascular ICU patients recovering from cardiac surgery and advanced cardiac procedures
- Monitor and manage hemodynamic status using invasive lines, advanced bedside monitoring, and critical care equipment
- Administer and titrate vasoactive drips, sedation, paralytics, insulin protocols, and blood products
- Care for ventilated patients and manage respiratory support including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and ventilator settings
- Support patients with temporary pacing, post-op open heart recovery, dysrhythmia management, and arterial line care
- Assist with chest tube insertion and removal, Swan-Ganz monitoring, and advanced cardiac monitoring
- Care for patients with renal failure, CRRT/CVVHD needs, stroke history, and multisystem organ dysfunction
- Maintain infection prevention standards, isolation precautions, and safe critical care nursing practices
- Document accurately in EPIC and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support excellent patient outcomes
