Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a CA license, 2 years of CVICU experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital setting
  • Care for cardiovascular patients including post cardiac surgery, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and mechanical circulatory support (LVAD/RVAD, IABP, Impella, ECMO)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Schedule includes Sunday through Saturday coverage
  • Weekend requirement of 4 shifts within a 4-week cycle
  • Holiday coverage required including the holiday weekend
  • May be required to float to like units or lower acuity units across the health system's five San Diego hospitals, excluding the ED
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certification required for BLS/ACLS)
  • CRRT, LVAD, and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU-specific experience, with recent experience within the last year
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year total travel nursing experience required
  • Minimum 6 months of continuous travel experience immediately preceding consideration
  • Epic charting experience required within the last 6 months of work history
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Additional skills required: care of the ventilated patient, chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, CVP monitoring, sheath removal, and management of dysrhythmias
  • One supervisory-level reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from cardiac surgery and those on mechanical circulatory support
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage complex cardiac and hemodynamic conditions
  • Candidates must not reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered, with the exception of LVNs/MAs
  • Candidates who have been on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months or more are considered local and are not eligible
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no new RTO requests after submission
  • Previous travelers must wait 1 year before returning to this health system
  • Extensions are capped at 1 year, after which a 1-year waiting period applies before returning
  • International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
