Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring prior ICU and CVICU experience with advanced hemodynamic monitoring skills.

Details

• Work in a 28-bed mixed ICU unit
• Patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU/med-surg admissions
• Uses i-mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels
• Meditech documentation system used
• Schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required in coordination with hospital employees
• Travelers are first to float and may be sent to the emergency department or PCU for patient holds
• Bedside shift report used for every patient hand-off and transfer of care
• Care for 1-3 ICU patients including ventilator-dependent patients
• Unit performs post-op day 0 CABG care, Impella and balloon pump management, Swan Ganz monitoring, and Advanced Hemodynamics
• Neuro procedures performed for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage including EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun induced hypothermia therapy

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in ICU
• Prior CVICU experience required
• One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferred, ideally at a facility using Meditech
• Proficient in reading telemetry strips
• Experience with CRRT, Advanced Hemodynamics, and phlebotomy required
• Comfortable administering respiratory treatments such as inhalers and nebulizers outside the ICU
• BSN, advanced certifications, and TNCC preferred
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

• Provide advanced critical care to cardiovascular and neuro ICU patients, including fresh post-op heart patients
• Opportunity to train in Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU skills, including care for head and neck flap procedures
• Facility is one of only 14 programs in the nation offering this specialized training
• Navy uniform required as part of dress code
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility with no local candidates accepted
