Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a CVICU position requiring strong cardiovascular ICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) unit within a short-term acute care, Level II Trauma Center hospital
• Patient population includes trauma, CV surgery (TAVR, CABG), neurosurgery, and other complex surgical patients
• Typical patient ratios of 1:2-3, adjusted to skill level and acuity during required floating
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs, including to non-ICU units with standard ratios
• Uses Epic charting system
• No block scheduling accommodation available

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• CSC and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with strong cardiovascular ICU experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, CRRT/CVVHD, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Impella and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) required
• Preferred skills include chest tube insertion/removal assistance, procedural sedation monitoring, ICP monitoring, and Swan Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring
• Current Nursys report required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex surgical, trauma, and cardiovascular patients, including open heart and TAVR recovery cases
• Manage patients with diagnoses such as severe sepsis, DKA, multisystem organ failure, and unstable GI bleeds
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Up to 8 hours of pre-start training modules required within one week of signing
• All required certifications must be obtained prior to start
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• RTO approval is at the manager's discretion, and any RTO over 7 days requires an equivalent assignment extension
• Previous Mary Washington Healthcare travelers must have a full one-year separation before returning
• Travel pairs may be considered but are not guaranteed matching schedules
