Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, IABP and CRRT skills, and an active AZ or Compact RN license.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting in a 12-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)
- Patient population includes AMI, CAD, and PVD diagnoses
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity; no nurse aides on the unit
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Dex, Propofol, Dopamine, Neo, Epi, Levo, Insulin, Cardene, and others
- RT is available department-wide (not unit-specific) and may be shared with the ICU; equipment includes vents, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, and Hi-Flow
- In-room monitors only (Nihon Kohden); RNs are responsible for reading strips — no monitor techs on unit
- 12-hour day shifts on a 7/7 schedule
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekend shifts per pay period, which may fall on Friday or Saturday nights depending on unit needs
- Holiday coverage is required
- On-call/standby required per contract (max 3 times per 12 weeks)
- Floating required as needed based on skill set — may float to ICU, PCU, MS, or Tele units across both campuses
- Charting system: Cerner
Requirements
- Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
- IABP, CRRT, and fresh open-heart surgery (OHS) from OR experience required
- Impella experience is desired
- Must be able to pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam (basic or advanced) with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract signing
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (DL used to verify permanent address)
Additional Information
- Intensivists are in-house; charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7
- RNs will be tested on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on the first day of orientation (pass/fail)
- Candidates who fail the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the sterile technique test on a second attempt will not be considered at CommonSpirit facilities in AZ or the Sacramento, CA region for 6 months
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- If traveling as a duo, each clinician must have their own vehicle and should not expect to share the same schedule
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Unit-specific orientation is provided (12 orientation hours)
- RTO of less than 7 days and no holiday requests are required for auto-offer consideration
