Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of cardiovascular ICU experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 10-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within a hospital setting
  • Care for adult to geriatric patients with LVADs, balloon pumps, swan catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and patients on CRRT
  • Frequently care for patients recovering from AAA repairs requiring flat positioning post-procedure
  • Nurses typically carry 2 patients with a dedicated free charge nurse on the unit
  • Intensivist present in the unit Monday through Friday with multidisciplinary rounds daily at 10am
  • Patient ratio of 1:1-2 with an average daily census of 7
  • Uses Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Required to work every other weekend unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
  • 1:2 patient ratio experience required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Level I/II trauma experience preferred
  • Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV sedation, and continuous IV paralytics
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and suctioning
  • Experience with cardiovascular procedures including CABG, TAVR, IABP, valve repair/replacement, and Swan-Ganz monitoring
  • Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and renal failure management
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
  • Experience with central line, PICC line, and arterial line management
  • First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular ICU patients, including close monitoring and communication with physicians and the care team
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds with the intensivist and care team
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract
  • RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers previously unable to return to a facility must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before rebooking
  • Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may result in a two-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
