Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVICU RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital position requiring 2+ years of experience and Level II trauma background.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Patient population includes complex cardiac and vascular patients, advanced heart failure, cardiac surgery, heart valve replacement (TMVR, TAVR, TTVR), adult congenital heart disease, VAD, heart transplant, and vascular/ENT/plastics/ortho/OB-GYN/urology surgical patients
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Weekend work required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital, not to sister facilities
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license required
  • Active OR license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN, BSN, and NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with 1 year of recent CVICU experience within the last 2 years
  • Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of experience
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial and central line management, care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, cardiac drip titration, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
  • Preferred skills include chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, lumbar drain care, and pre/post cardiac cath monitoring
  • Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (charge RN references not accepted)
  • Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exemptions accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular and surgical patients in a high-acuity ICU setting
  • Refusal to float as requested may result in contract cancellation
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mileage radius restriction
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 1 week, with up to 7 RTO days approved during the holiday season
  • Must work two of the three winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
  • Former OHSU employees or travelers must have been separated for at least 6 months to be considered for return, and must provide a reference from their previous OHSU manager
  • No prints allowed on scrubs; scrubs are provided for OR use
  • Pending RN license accepted if application has been submitted to the licensing board
