Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year in CVICU and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• 30-bed CVICU in a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center hospital
• Patient population includes immediate post-op cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical patients (CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs, heart transplants, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy)
• RN staffing ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on ICU status, with 1:3 for mixed status patients
• 12-hour day or night shifts, 0700-1900 or 1900-0700, 36 or 48 hours/week contracts available
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU (1:3 ratio), Sitter duty, and PACU Surge
• EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year of CVICU experience required
• Competency in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, a-lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• EPIC EMR experience required
• CV surgical experience (ECMO, CVVH, IABP, VAD) preferred
• Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Support team includes a charge nurse (rarely with patient assignment), 24/7 HUC, dedicated CVICU intensivist, CT surgeon on call, hospitalist, general intensivist, and ICU-designated RT
• Bedside/nurses station telemetry monitoring with no dedicated tele tech; phlebotomy team assists with peripheral blood draws
• RNs draw from invasive lines but are not permitted to perform peripheral sticks
• Orientation includes 1 day of NEO (2-4 hours) followed by preceptor-led unit orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 1-2 holidays per contract
• RTO approval available for up to 7 days
• Facility follows a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Scrubs must be a solid, professional color with no graphics, logos, or designs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if experience requirements are met
