Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of CVICU nursing experience required
• Immediate open-heart post-op experience required
• Active Maryland RN license or compact license at time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and CPI certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Experience with Epic charting required
• Comfort caring for high-acuity cardiac surgery patients and managing complex hemodynamic conditions
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced ICU environment

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to post-op cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, MVR, AVR, and structural heart cases
• Monitor and manage patients during the first 6 hours post-op, including hemodynamic instability and complex medication support
• Care for patients requiring inotropes, vasoactive drips, mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, CRRT, and IABP
• Assess, monitor, and document patient status using Epic
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, Swan Ganz catheters, postoperative chest care, and ventilator support
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
• Support safe, evidence-based care for cardiac ICU patients with STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and ICU bounce-backs
• Maintain flexibility to float within scope and provide high-quality care wherever needed in the unit
