• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Shifts Per Week: 3
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Shift Schedule: Rotating days and mids, with mids (11:00 PM - 11:30 AM) as the primary shift
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• On-Call: 24-36 hours per rotating 6-week schedule
• Floating: Required to MSICU as needed
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,290 - $2,410

CVICU RN Job Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required
• Direct immediate post-op open heart experience required
• Experience caring for patients immediately after cardiac surgery
• BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS required
• Strong Epic charting experience required
• Experience with patient ratios of 1:2 preferred
• Ability to work rotating shifts and support float needs within scope
• Ability to manage complex critical care cardiac equipment and therapies
• Previous charge experience, community hospital experience, and additional specialty certifications are preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients in the CVICU
• Care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and structural heart cases
• Monitor and manage hemodynamically unstable patients during the immediate post-op period
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips per protocol and provider orders
• Care for patients requiring advanced support such as ECMO, CRRT, Impella, and IABP
• Interpret rhythms, manage arterial lines, central lines, Swan-Ganz monitoring, and epicardial pacing wires
• Support ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and complex respiratory care
• Collaborate with physicians, perfusionists, respiratory therapy, dialysis, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain safe, compassionate, and efficient care in a fast-paced critical care environment
• Document accurately in Epic and follow all unit and compliance standards
