Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of current CVICU experience and hands-on skills with fresh open heart cases and advanced hemodynamic support devices.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes fresh hearts, ventilated patients, chest tubes and lumbar drains, and chronic/acute renal failure cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:1-2, with ratios potentially varying when floated based on patient acuity
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Required to work every other weekend and applicable holidays
  • Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding patients, and all IMC units within skillset
  • Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Stroke CEUs preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience considered with initial CVICU training
  • Previous charge experience preferred
  • Required equipment experience: Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismaflex, OR experience with fresh heart cases
  • Required skills include Post Op Open Heart Recovery, Swan-Ganz monitoring, FloTrac, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tube management
  • CVICU experience with fresh open heart procedures such as CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
  • Two current professional references required
  • Copy of certifications and state license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients including post-cardiac surgery recovery and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Skilled care areas include ventilator management, continuous IV sedation and vasoactive drip titration, CRRT/CVVHD, and cardiac dysrhythmia management
  • Neurological care skills such as EVD management, hypothermia protocol, and lumbar drain care may be utilized
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Returning RWJBH staff (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for travel assignments
  • Time off and schedule accommodation requests must be submitted and approved prior to receiving an offer, as changes cannot be accommodated after start
  • Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays unless otherwise specified
