Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring a MA RN license and hands-on mechanical circulatory support experience.

Details

  • Work setting is a cardiac surgery ICU within a hospital environment
  • Patient population includes cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, cardiac medicine, advanced heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support cases
  • Mechanical circulatory support devices used include IABP, Impella, ECMO, and durable VADs
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Floating to other adult ICUs required as needed
  • Scheduling is based on unit needs; block schedules cannot be accommodated
  • Epic EMR experience is required
  • Contract lengths of 13, 20, or 26 weeks are available

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required; conditional MA license accepted if actively pursuing permanent licensure
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2.5 years of ICU experience required
  • Cardiovascular ICU experience required
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical circulatory support (IABP, Impella, ECMO, VAD) required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Key clinical skills required include arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, vasoactive/cardiac drip titration, CVVHD/CRRT, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, and interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or above
  • Candidates must reside more than 200 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates; local candidates are accepted

Additional Information

  • Care responsibilities include managing critically ill cardiovascular patients post-cardiac and vascular surgery, advanced heart failure, and patients on mechanical circulatory support devices
  • Must pass a pass/fail telemetry test at orientation with a single attempt; failure results in assignment cancellation
  • Must pass a pass/fail medication exam at orientation
  • RTO of 3–5 days is preferred; no RTO is permitted in the first week of the contract
  • Candidates who have previously worked within this health system must have a 12-month separation before being eligible
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • This is a union facility; no special scheduling accommodations can be made
