Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring 2 years of recent CVICU experience and NJ or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a Level I Trauma Center's Cardiovascular ICU at an academic medical center
• Care for patients requiring cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, TAVR, and ECMO
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+ depending on acuity and census
• Float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units without exception
• Uses EPIC for charting
• Utilizes FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring and Prismax for CRRT

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience required (SICU experience considered if initial CVICU training completed)
• Required experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
• Required experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax
• Skilled in A-lines, central/PICC lines, blood product administration, and IV starts
• Skilled in continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, sedation, and vasoactive drip titration
• Skilled in chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation
• Skilled in temporary pacers, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG
• Experience managing CVVHD/CRRT, acute stroke, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and lumbar drains
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular surgical and medical patients
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a travel clinician
