Job Summary
The Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Registered Nurse (RN) is based in a healthcare facility and provides specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures. This role involves assessing, planning, and executing nursing interventions within a cardiovascular operating room setting, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: Current New York State Registered Nurse License, BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross), Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing preferred, minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, and 3 years of experience in operating room open heart specialty.
• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week.
• Responsibilities include providing perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgical patients, adhering to hospital policies and standards, and participating in professional development activities.
• The RN will administer medications safely, educate patients and families, and support a team-based care environment.
• The role may involve staffing general operating room areas if cardiac volume is low and participating in the Clinical Ladder Program.
• The candidate must actively participate in mandatory education and integrate current evidence-based practices into patient care.
• Must be familiar with EPIC electronic health records and maintain unit-specific certifications as required.
