Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart Nurse in Saint Louis, Missouri. This position involves providing specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing open heart procedures, with a focus on cardiac and thoracic cases. The role requires handling emergent cases in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment within a short-term acute care facility.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 10 hours per shift, with minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license in Missouri or compact state, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, scrub and circulate experience in cardiovascular surgery, at least 0 years of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Heart and Lung Transplant procedures, experience in Level I trauma facilities, familiarity with EPIC charting system, prior community hospital or trauma level I experience.
- Responsibilities: Providing perioperative nursing care for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, primarily open heart cases including transplants, Whipple procedures, and complex vascular surgeries. Must have scrub experience; circulate experience required. Responsible for entering missing instruments into the CensiTrac system. Must adhere to unit protocols and assist in emergent situations efficiently.

- Location: 1 Barnes Jewish Hospital Plaza, Saint Louis, MO 63110.
- Additional Information: This position requires the ability to float within the service line as needed, with no call requirement overnight. Must have sufficient level 1 trauma experience and cardiac transplant experience for night shifts. The facility is a short-term acute care setting with Level Trauma designation, with 1,266 beds.
