Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care in the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room).
• Work as a circulating RN for cardiovascular surgical procedures.
• Care for approximately 2 CVOR cases per week, primarily cardiovascular/thoracic procedures.
• Participate in cases such as:
  • CABG
  • AVR (Aortic Valve Replacement)
  • MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement)
  • Thoracotomy
• Prepare the OR, equipment, supplies, and patient for surgical procedures.
• Maintain a safe and sterile operating environment.
• Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia staff, and other OR personnel throughout procedures.
• Monitor patient condition and provide appropriate perioperative nursing interventions.
• Complete accurate surgical documentation in Cerner/SurgiNet.
• Assist with OR assignments as directed by the Charge RN.
• Participate in CVOR call rotation, including overnight call.
• Respond to call within the required 30-minute response time.
• Work weekend and holiday call/work rotations as scheduled.
• Float within the OR to other surgical specialties when needed.
• May assist with scrubbing when qualified, although scrubbing is not required.
• Complete approximately one week of department-specific orientation or remain in orientation until comfortable with the workflow.
• Maintain strong teamwork and communication in the cardiovascular surgical environment.

Requirements Active RN license required BLS certification required ACLS certification required CVOR/OR nursing experience required. Experience with cardiovascular surgical procedures strongly expected. Experience with CABG, AVR, MVR, and thoracotomy preferred. Cerner and SurgiNet experience preferred. Circulating experience required; scrubbing is not required but preferred. Must be willing to participate in call rotation. 30-minute call response time required. Must work 10-hour day shifts. Every-other-weekend (EOW) requirement. First to float; floating is limited to other specialties within the OR. Holiday call/work rotation required. 40 guaranteed hours/week. 13-week / 91-day contract. Scrubs are provided. BSN not required. Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
