Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2-3 years of acute care experience and IL RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Surgery Room (OR/CVOR) at a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated, Comprehensive Stroke Center with 794 beds
• Unit has 28 beds including 2 hybrid rooms for CV/Vascular procedures
• Unit sees approximately 60-75 cases per day
• Patient population includes outpatient, inpatient, and trauma cases such as GSW, stabbings, transplants (kidney, heart), general, GYN, urology, robotics, vascular, ortho, neuro, and open heart/CABG cases
• Hybrid room handles 5-10 cases per day including TAVR, AAA, endarterectomies, angiograms, and fistula revisions for adult patients only
• Approximately 20% pediatric cases including open hearts, appendectomy, and cholecystectomy
• No liver or lung transplant cases
• Participates in Gifts of Hope cases
• EPIC EMR experience required
• IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing via Pyxis
• No floating required
• Day shift schedule: 0645-1515
• Additional shift options include 1445-1915, 2245-0715, 3x12h, 2x8h/2x12h, and 5x8h rotations
• Hybrid/Radiology team shifts: Monday-Thursday, 8-10 hour shifts
• OR operates 24/7, 365 days a year
• Weekend rotation required every 4th weekend, working one full weekend (Friday/Saturday)
• On-call required with 30-minute response time, approximately 3 call shifts per 6-week period; sleeping room available for on-call staff
• Schedule is rotation-based on a 6-week schedule, provided 2-4 weeks in advance
• No self-scheduling

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2-3 years of acute care experience required
• Critical care experience preferred
• Level 1-2 trauma experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Ability to both scrub and circulate for surgical cases
• Candidate's middle name or initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required

Additional Information

• Support team includes charge nurse (no patient assignment M-F, available weekends/evenings), anesthesiologist bedside monitoring, resource nurse, surgeons with preference cards, ANM, educators, service line reps, and an EPIC super-user
• Orientation includes meeting educators and ANM, gaining login access, completing online modules, and EPIC training on day one, followed by unit orientation on days two and three
• Holiday coverage required, including one winter holiday and one summer holiday
• All RTO requests must be submitted via email to the manager
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
