Travel CVOR Registered Nurse (Anesthesia) – Wausau, Wisconsin
Bring your cardiovascular operating room and anesthesia expertise to a travel nursing opportunity in Wausau, Wisconsin. As an Anesthesia RN, you will support anesthesia providers across cardiothoracic, trauma, elective, and general surgical cases while contributing to a collaborative perioperative team. Wausau offers an inviting central Wisconsin setting with access to the Wisconsin River, scenic parks, extensive trails, and year-round outdoor recreation.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,750–$2,890
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) / Anesthesia
- Schedule: Monday through Friday; various 8-hour day shifts
- Shift Duration: 8 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week, excluding applicable orientation and facility-closure provisions
- Contract Length: 9 weeks
- Anticipated Start Date: October 26, 2026
- Call Requirements: One weekday call, one weekday backup call, two to three weekend calls, and one holiday call during the rotation; additional call may occasionally be needed
- Call Response: 30 minutes and ready to work in the operating room; reliable transportation is required
- Orientation: Orientation and training for additional anesthesia skills are provided

CVOR Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a compact state
- At least 3 years of CVOR experience with anesthesia experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Strong operating room and cardiovascular operating room circulating experience
- Experience as an ICU or Emergency Department RN may be considered when combined with anesthesia experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate degree, bachelor's degree, or qualifying nursing certificate/diploma
- Demonstrated critical thinking, flexibility, resilience, and the ability to manage change effectively
- Ability to perform downtime tasks and collaborate professionally with anesthesia and surgical teams
CVOR RN and Anesthesia Responsibilities
- Support anesthesia providers throughout cardiothoracic, trauma, elective, and general surgical procedures
- Assist with intubations and fiber-optic scopes during intubation
- Maintain sterile technique while assisting with central line procedures
- Assist with placement of arterial lines, central lines, lumbar drains, and Swan-Ganz catheters
- Start IVs, draw laboratory specimens, and set up and manage medication pumps
- Operate and monitor Belmont, Cell Saver, and Level I equipment as needed
- Provide skilled circulating support for a variety of operating room and cardiovascular operating room cases
- Assist with conscious sedation when applicable
- Complete required call assignments and respond within the designated timeframe
- Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, and perioperative teams to promote safe, efficient patient care
- Maintain strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and a patient-focused approach in a fast-paced environment
