Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) position at a major academic medical center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience and at least 2 prior travel assignments.

Details

  • 32-bed cardiovascular surgical step-down unit (CVPCU) providing post-op care for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic patients
  • 12 beds designated for IMC-level continuous cardiac monitoring; remaining beds are telemetry (intermittent monitoring) or floor-level (non-monitored)
  • Patient population includes post-op CABG, valve repairs and replacements, heart and lung transplant recipients, and patients on Mechanical Circulatory Support devices such as LVADs
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:3 on days and 1:4 on nights with mixed level-of-care assignments
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
  • Epic EMR is used; experience required
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active MD or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience required
  • Strong surgical IMC experience required
  • ICU experience required for management of high-acuity IMC patients
  • At least 2 prior travel assignments required
  • Critical Care Certification (e.g., CCRN) preferred
  • Experience in a 500+ bed facility required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • One professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment specializing in cardiac and vascular surgical recovery
  • Care responsibilities include patients 1+ days post-CABG, valve repair/replacement, and those on advanced mechanical circulatory support
  • Orientation is held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as traveling candidates
