Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

• 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU serving as the referral center for major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina
• Cares for patients with congenital heart disease across all ages, blending cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses
• Common procedures include cardiac surgery, Ventricular Assist Devices, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, ECMO, and CRRT
• All beds are monitored beds with support from Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity
• Night shift schedule of 3x12s, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
• 4 weekend shifts required within a 4-week schedule, plus holiday rotation
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only)
• ACLS certification preferred (AHA only)
• 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
• CV and pediatric nursing experience required
• VAD experience highly preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in antiarrhythmics, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and emergency medications
• Skills in ventilator care, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Skills in central line care and central line blood draws
• Skills in congenital heart disease/repair care, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-cardiac surgery care
• CRRT experience preferred
• Berlin Heart and HeartMate3 experience preferred

• Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit
• First-time travelers may be accepted depending on the position
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All RTO must be submitted at time of consideration, with approval based on unit needs
• Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius, though non-local candidates are prioritized
• Staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)
