Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center in Oregon, requiring CVICU and post-op cardiac experience with night shift availability.

- 20-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a Magnet-designated, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital
- Cares for critically ill and injured pediatric patients from birth to young adulthood across a wide spectrum of conditions including trauma, cardiac surgery, respiratory illness, hematology/oncology, and neurologic disorders
- Bedside procedures include central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation/extubation, CRRT initiation and discontinuation, ECMO cannulation/decannulation, and emergent operative procedures for patients unable to be transported to the OR
- Equipment includes Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Arctic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, and Baxter Prismaflex Machines
- Charting is done in Epic; prior Epic experience is required
- Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Weekend shifts are required
- Floating within the hospital to the NICU and other Pediatric Units is required; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
- No on-call requirements
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active Oregon (OR) RN license required; a pending license may be accepted if the application has been submitted to and received by the licensing board
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA Traditional only; RQI not accepted); NRP preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- CVICU experience and post-op cardiac (open heart) experience are required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Strong proficiency in respiratory care including ventilator management, intubation assistance, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
- Proficiency in IV therapy, central line care, arterial line management, PICC line management, and TPN/lipids administration
- Experience with CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, CVP monitoring, ECMO, and management of congenital heart disease/repair
- Pediatric dosage calculations and IV vasopressor administration skills required
- COVID vaccination proof required with no exemptions
- Two manager or supervisor references from within the last 24 months required (Charge RN references are not acceptable)
- Full 7-year work history required, including city, state, dates of employment, and PTO periods
- Full date of birth and last four digits of SSN required for consideration
- Relias assessment score of 85% or higher required

- Provides critical care nursing to pediatric patients in a multidisciplinary, family-centered environment supported by board-certified pediatric intensivists available 24/7
- Interdisciplinary team includes respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, speech, physical, and occupational therapists, social workers, child life specialists, and more
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate; no radius restriction applies
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront at the time of submission and may not exceed 2 weeks total
- Candidates who were previously employed at or completed a travel assignment at this facility must have been gone for at least 6 months to be eligible to return
- Comprehensive lifetime background review is conducted; no background or license history of concern will be accepted
- Non-billable orientation modules averaging approximately 4.5 hours must be completed prior to start
- Scrubs are provided for use in the unit; no printed scrubs permitted
- Parking is available at a cost of $15 Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm
