Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric critical care experience and an OH or Compact RN license in hand.

Details

  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) setting at a large children's hospital
  • Patient population includes pediatric cardiovascular and complex critical care cases
  • Floating required to other units including NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and med/surg as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

  • Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Minimum 2 years of CVPICU or PICU experience in a pediatric hospital — hard requirement
  • Proficiency with respiratory skills including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and airway management
  • Proficiency with IV therapy including arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and IV vasopressors
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Pediatric dosage calculation skills required
  • Experience with continuous sedation management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE compliance required
  • Two supervisory/manager references required for consideration — at least one must hold a supervisor or manager title (charge nurse references do not qualify)
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Preferred skills include experience with congenital heart disease/repair, ECMO, post-cardiac surgery care, post-cardiac catheterization care, ventricular assist devices (LVAD/RVAD), and CRRT
  • Floating to various units is a key expectation of this assignment and travelers must be fully prepared to accept appropriate assignments in floated units
  • Candidates who have previously worked permanently at this facility must have a gap of at least 2 years before being eligible
  • Travel experience is not required — first-time travelers are welcome to apply
