Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU role requiring OR license and 2+ years of CVICU/post-op heart experience.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) within a Level I Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
• Care for critically ill pediatric patients including post-op cardiac surgery, congenital heart disease, and ECMO cases
• Perform bedside procedures such as central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubation/extubation, CRRT initiation, and ECMO cannulation/decannulation
• Use specialized equipment including Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Arctic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, and Baxter Prismaflex machines
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Weekend requirement applies
• Float within the hospital to NICU and other pediatric units as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license required, OR license required at time of consideration
• BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience with post-op heart experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted only with 3+ years of PICU experience
• Proof of COVID vaccination required with no exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients from birth through young adulthood across cardiac, respiratory, trauma, and surgical diagnoses
• Work alongside a multidisciplinary team including intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacologists, and child life specialists
• Must be available to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day)
• No print scrubs permitted; scrubs provided for OR-based duties
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no mile radius restriction
• All time-off requests must be submitted upfront and limited to no more than 2 weeks
• Returning staff must have a 6+ month gap since their last assignment to be eligible
• Assignment start dates typically fall on Tuesdays
